Who says your morning oats have to be sweet? This version tops creamy oats with a sprinkle of sharp cheese, salty bacon, a fried egg, and sprinkle of green onions. The extra hit of protein is sure to fill you up and get you through whatever your morning has to offer. The egg can really be any way you like-I did mine very slightly over easy, but try poached, scrambled, or sunny side up!

Try savory oats instead of sweet to fill you up for the day

1/2 cup quick oats

pinch salt

1/4 cup milk, maybe a bit more if needed

2 tbsp sharp cheddar

2 slices bacon, cooked

1 tbsp minced green onions

fresh cracked pepper

1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the oats and give it all a good stir. Cook 3-5 minutes, until the oats are cooked. Give them a good stir. Add the warmed milk, a bit at a time, stirring so that it's creamy and a bit looser, not a big clump.

2. While the oatmeal is cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat and crack in an egg. Cook it to your liking.

3. Pour the oats into a bowl, top with cheese and the egg. Sprinkle with the green onions and add the bacon on the side.
